History
Ryl Mevek was born on the world of Kiffu, his family was by no means wealthy, looked at as untrusted and thieving. His mother lived as a whore, selling herself to make ends meet for herself and three children. Causing her to be outcasted by her clan. Due to these forced circumstances she found passage off planet when Ryl was still a youth. Giving Ryl very little knowledge of his homeworld or of his father, knowing only that he was when alive a war hero of the Kiffar. Yet being dead, and having a prostitute for a mother did he and his brothers very little good.
Travel led them to Coruscant, where he grew up in the slums area, his mother continued her earlier occupation, working as a dancer/hooker in one of the local hubs. Young and abit wild Ryl began stealing, in doing so he met a man, one Jedi Knight Kasekk Nwell. Sensing the boys potential he soon met with his mother, requesting that he teach the young Mevek boy to become a Jedi. (Age 6)
Years would pass, Ryl possessing uncanny precognitive abilities and displaying exceptional skill with the lightsaber, enabled Mevek to defeat any other padawan in dueling, becomming a pet project for Battlemaster Gurth Venzen, who actually took time out from his normal rituals to begin Ryl's study of Teras Kasi along with his advanced lightsaber teachings. Causing a growth of unhealthy ego in the young man, this forced his Master Kasekk's hand deciding it was time to leave Coruscant and the lads family behind after humbling the boy setting off to educate the youth in more of the galaxy. Teaching him there was more to being a Jedi than just swordplay, something Venzen seemed to have focused on with Ryl. Which was just added annoyance for Kasekk.
Travel over the years would lead Ryl through many adventures. His tutoring continuing as time went along. Skill with the lightsaber, and mastery over his precognitive abilities seeming to be his personal focal point, even though his mentor attempted to teach him other paths, ones he learned yet had not the aptitude for in comparisson.
During his years as a padawan he would face one of the most trying tasks yet, his first taste of open warfare. The Star Hyperspace War. He along with his Master, a horde of other Jedi and several other Padawan (including Quinlan Vos, Sha Koon and Obi-Wan-Kenobi, all padawans as well at the time) would engage in conflict. Due to the skills of the combined Jedi and the Republic they would win the battle. Tarkin the enemy instigator of the battle would end it by blowing himself to pieces. During this short war Ryl was captured for a period of time, time he spent becoming allies with several mercenaries, space pirates and he would also learn of the dark side. Youthful he would grow a fast attraction to one of the young mercs, a young merc who would soon find herself killed by her own. This sent the young padawan into a Force rage one it took Plo-Koon and Kassek to remove him from. His first taste of the dark side.
Time would ease his pain, the victory and end of the battle calming him to a certain extent, he and his Master would soon be sent upon other tasks, travelling once more exploring for the council. Grief would prove to be a hard lesson for Ryl causing him through adventures to slip abit more into un-Jedi-like actions with the upcoming countless battles and the deaths of many of his newfound friends, his Master watched the decline of his student, worrying about his own actions hoping he was not the one setting such an example. More time would pass, Kasekk dedicated himself to keeping his pupil in-line and on the right track, being a bastion of strength for the growing man. Eventually, however after being out on a mission with his student he watched the boys display of combat and hatred. Shocked and saddened by the rage, and lack of selfcaring Ryl displayed, he contacted the Council requesting re-assignment for himself and his student one nearer to Coruscant away from combat for a while. It was within those years that Ryl, learned the true arts of warfare, deception, love, and the Dark Side.
Ryl was angered at first to be removed from their task to be sent back to Coruscant. Kasekk explained to him that he was losing himself to it, and this was what was best, they had a disagreement, Ryl denounced Kasekk as his Master and struck out on his own, much to Kasekk's dismay, refusing to inform the Jedi Council of his padawans decision to take matters into his own hands, he took the re-assignment on his own, leaving his adopted son, and pupil behind.
The Jedi padawan; took time to himself knowing full well of his changes, a time of self-reflection hit, seeing the error of his ways, he began to draw into himself, pulling away from his private war on the 'scum of the galaxy'. Taking leave of his new companions without a word he left to seek out his Master.
It took not long for the padawan to find the man he once looked upon as a father, teacher, and best friend. Dead. Slain at the hands of a Sith Assassin, enraged all of his past angers and pain erupted inside of him, fueling him on. Seeking out the murderer of his Master he found himself on the marsh covered planet of Caamas after a long ardorous hunt. The Sith who had killed Kasekk was toying with him the entire voyage, leaving clues, hints, minions, dead bodies, taunting him,... trying to draw out the darkness that existed inside of Ryl, it was along this journey that he would meet Cyro Sjame, at the time a young Sith apprentice, learning his own dark path. Inside the Sith, Ryl seen a younger version of himself, a warrior, a Kiffar, full of hate, rage and very lost.
A new goal hit him, after defeating the teenager he attempted to speak reason into him. With Cyro's help Ryl would soon find the Sith Assassin Zorl K'tat. Fighting one on one, a battle that raged throughout the jungles of Caamas, during the fight Zorl used the padawan's compassions against him, attacking Cyro, severely injuring him. This put Ryl into his second use of the Darkside, much to the missplaced delight of Zorl. Battle ensued once more the Force Raging Ryl put an end to the Sith Assassins existance, lopping her head clean off her shoulders.
After this Ryl brought Sjame to the Jedi Order, fast becoming friends with the younger man. Looking at him just as he would a younger brother. Reporting all he had been through to the Council, he was soon Knighted, the Council summing up his ordeals in all he had been through... the Trial of Skill displayed in his besting of Zorl K'tat, the Trial of Flesh was his loss of Kasekk Nwell, the Trial of Courage his years spent in service to the Order and his performance in battle against the Bitthaevrians, and the Trial of Spirit ultimately overcoming the Darkside and returning to the Order on his own accord. Having not given into the games of the Sith Assassin Zorl K'tat.
Now a Jedi Knight Ryl was kept around Coruscant to make certain of his loyalties, acting as a trainer for padawans, and younglings. Which also gave him the open opportunity to work personally with Sjame. It was in these times that he met up with his old combat instructor Gurth Venzen, acquiring even new talents with the lightsaber, Gurth having lost his padawan years before Ryl had become a Jedi had noone to share his secrets with, finding only Ryl worthy of such honors. Gladly learning what Jedi Master Gurth Venzen had to teach before the man passed away.
His time back was well spent, quiet reflection, self-discovery, honing of lightsaber skills, and assistance in handling Cyro Sjame. It wouldn't last, his loyalty proven, the Council having faith in their new Knight sent him out on a new tasks, the next several years he would travel the galaxy, acting as somewhat of a Jedi Investigator, he roamed planet to planet, colony to colony, station to station, playing ambassador of goodwill, healer, sometimes judge when asked, peacekeeper and spy. Monitoring untrusted factions within the Republic and rooting out Darksiders.
